The dataset is “process unit” for the assessment of the production process of glass flakes. The dataset is referred to the production at laboratory scale of the patented manufacturing process and not at the industrial scale production. It also includes the production and the transport of the raw and relevant ancillary materials needed for the manufacture of glass flakes as well as the manufacture process of glass flakes.

General comment
The dataset covers all relevant process steps over the supply chain of the glass flakes production. The inventory is mainly based on data directly collated at the laboratory of the University of Bayreuth (UBT) and is completed, where necessary, by secondary data. Flakes are mainly used, in coated form, for optical purposes in lacquer, make-up, car paints. Flakes are also used in the building sector for innovative applications (e.g. coatings for window glazing systems).
