The aim of the European Platform on Life Cycle Assessment (EPLCA) is to support businesses and public authorities in the implementation of Sustainable Consumption and Production. The support is provided with guidance on consistent and quality-assured life cycle data, methods and assessments. The European Platform on LCA hosts also a selection of tools, reference data and recommended methods for LCA studies.

Goals

The purpose of the Platform is to improve credibility, acceptance and practice of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) in business and public authorities. It has been set up to ensure greater coherence across LCA instruments and robust decision support.

LC Data Network

A globally usable infrastructure for consistent and quality assured life cycle data, based on the ILCD and ISO standards.

ELCD

Inventory (LCI) database from front-running EU-level business associations and other sources , for key materials, energy carriers, transport, and waste management, to be used as source for secondary data in LCA.

Resource Directory

Characterized repository of Life-Cycle-based studies, and information on LCT-related services, tools and databases.

ILCD Handbook

A series of practice-oriented guidance on LCA; providing a key input to the Environmental Footprint developments and other application needs.

ILCD Editor

IT support for the development of ILCD compliant datasets.
